Human Well-Being

The Gregory J. Reiter Memorial Fund has contributed to multiple vegan programs that promote individual human health and systemic food equity while also helping to protect animals.

The Fund has been a sponsor of the The Exam Room™  podcast of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) – which delivers the latest news about vegan nutrition on iTunes and Spotify; and via Facebook Live and Youtube. The podcast’s 750+ episodes have been viewed and downloaded by millions worldwide. Scroll down for a complete list of sponsored episodes.

The Fund has contributed to the Physicians Committee’s work with communities disproportionately impacted by chronic disease – such as a Navajo Nation partnership tackling diabetes with a return to ancestral diets, the Food for Life Grant Program helping underserved communities learn about the power of plant-based diets for disease prevention, and Healthy Food Makes Cents classes.

The Fund has partnered with the Feeding Equity Fund of A Well-Fed World, which supports grassroots organizations promoting community food security through plant-based meals and veganic agriculture. Grantees have included the Twin Cities Vegan Chef Collective (Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota) and the Awali Veganic Homestead Education Center (Atlanta, Georgia).
