Animal Place “Food for Thought” Program – Some Exciting Updates
Animal Place wrote in their spring 2016 newsletter article Turning Grief into Compassion:
“In honor of her late husband, Alysoun Mahoney put their passion for environmental protection into action with the creation of the “Gregory J. Reiter Memorial Fund.” Animal Place is the proud recipient of a grant that will expand our Food for Thought campaign.
Animal Place’s Food for Thought campaign helps dog and cat shelters adopt a board-approved animal-friendly menu policy for their fundraising events. Thanks to the “Gregory J. Reiter Memorial Fund”, Animal Place’s Food for Thought program is expanding to include environmental and wildlife conservation groups.”
In less than two months, the Food for Thought program has already accomplished the following with support from the Greg Fund:
Developed two new online resource sheets:
Secured multiple new endorsements, including:
Cowspiracy – producers of the groundbreaking documentary film and companion resources.
Bluecology – nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve marine wildlife and ecosystems.
Marc Bekoff – Professor Emeritus of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Colorado, Boulder; Fellow of the Animal Behavior Society; and ambassador for Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program.
