PETA’s 8th Annual Greg Award to Animal Rescue Kharkiv, Ukraine
On Greg’s 60th birthday today, I have an extra special honor: PETA – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals has just presented its 8th annual Gregory J. Reiter Animal Rescue Award to Animal Rescue Kharkiv (ARK) in Ukraine.

Animal rescue is heroic work even in the best of times — but imagine rescuing horses, dogs, cats, fish and other animals in the midst of a war, as the ARK team has been doing since February 2022!
A major partner of PETA Germany in Ukraine, ARK has provided shelter and rehoming services for animals displaced by the war, administered veterinary care to injured animals even after their clinic was hit by Russian missiles, and helped distribute millions of pounds of food to animals in need.
I am so proud that this award in Greg’s memory can do just a little to recognize and support ARK’s heroic work!
